The foundation provides a one-time grant of $10,000 to a new physician to assist in the repayment of student loans. An application with cover letter (indicating interest in the program, plans for setting up practice and request for financial assistance) must be submitted for the board's consideration.
Eligibility Requirements
An Applicant Must:
- Be a graduate of an accredited osteopathic medical school
- Start up or Join a practice located in northwestern Indiana/southwestern Michigan area to practice osteopathic medicine ("area" is defined as being within a 60-mile radius of South Bend, Indiana ... Indiana counties include: St. Joseph, Marshall, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Starke and LaPorte. Michigan counties include: Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph)
- Must remain in the Michiana area for two years
- Serve 1 year on the OMF Board of Directors
An application form (indicating interest in the grant program, indicating short/long term goals for your practice of medicine in the Michiana area and request for financial assistance) must be submitted by May 15th for the board's consideration.
