Physician recruitment is important for OMF as it ensures the foundation can continue its mission of perpetuating the osteopathic philosophy and promoting osteopathic medicine in the Michiana region.
Additionally, routine physician recruitment allows the community consistent access to high-quality medical care.
$10,000 Grant
OMF provides a one-time grant of $10,000 to a new physician to assist in the repayment of student loans. An application with cover letter (indicating interest in the program, plans for setting up practice and request for financial assistance) must be submitted for the board's consideration. OMF typically distributes one relocation grant each year.
To be considered eligible, an applicant must:
- Be a graduate of an accredited osteopathic medical school
- Start or join a practice located in northwestern Indiana/southwestern Michigan region to practice osteopathic medicine (“region” is defined as being within a 60-mile radius of South Bend, Indiana Indiana counties include: St. Joseph, Marshall, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Starke and LaPorte. Michigan counties include: Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph)
- Remain in the Michiana region for two years
- Serve one year on the OMF Board of Directors
An application form (indicating interest in the grant program, short- and long-term goals for your practice of medicine in the Michiana area and request for financial assistance) must be submitted by May 14, 2024, for the board’s consideration.
